Oetker Collection is pleased to welcome a new Masterpiece Hotel to the portfolio, The Woodward in Geneva, Switzerland. Opening in spring 2021, The Woodward is located on the shores of Lake Geneva in the heart of the city and will be the Collection’s first property in Switzerland and only all-suite hotel.
Erected in 1901, the building now housing The Woodward was built by French architect François Durel and features a historic post-Haussman style façade. But walk through the doors and the grandeur of the past gives way to the luxury of the present and future with opulent interiors imagined by world-renowned architect Pierre Yves-Rochon.
Each of the 26 suites is bespoke designed with individual details as well as signature flourishes including marble fireplaces. The vast majority of the suites — 21 of them to be exact — feature a full view of Lake Geneva extending all the way to the Swiss Alps. The Woodward’s crown jewels are the Presidential Suite, offering panoramic lake views from every room, a private dining room and loggia, and the Royal Suite, accessed by private lift and designed to resemble a beautiful Parisian apartment.
The Woodward will be the home to two fabulous restaurants, both possessing Michelin stars for their New York locations: L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon and Le Jardinier. Executive Chef Olivier Jean will lead the team at L’Atelier, where Joël Robuchon’s open kitchen concept will offer a dramatic dining experience to guests at the 36-seat counter or in the two dining rooms. Le Jardinier, by Chef Alain Verzeroli, will offer a menu steeped in French culinary techniques, wherein vegetables figure heavily and ‘vegan’, ‘dairy-free’ and ‘gluten-free’ are key terms. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Le Jardinier will welcome guests to dine in the relaxing setting of two glass-walled verandas overlooking the lake.
For added fun, The Woodward will also feature two bars, a tearoom and a private digestif lounge in the former vault that has been preserved from the building’s history as a bank. A 1,200 sq metre spa and Wellness Institute by Maison Guerlain will include a 21-metre indoor swimming pool (the longest in Geneva), a gym, two saunas, two steam rooms, two Swedish baths and a jacuzzi. Exclusive treatments by Guerlain will take place in six wellness suites, including one for couples and a corner dedicated to men.
The Woodward will be Oetker Collection’s 10th Masterpiece Hotel and we are very excited to breathe new life into the historic location with our legendary hospitality rooted in family spirit, elegance and genuine kindness. We cannot wait to welcome you in Geneva.
