Courchevel isn’t only for downhill skiing. The iconic alpine destination is also great for exploring remarkable lateral landscapes, like Lac de la Rosière, in snowshoes.
This crystal clear lake meanders through the mountains and can be explored both via the manmade elevated footpath and on more rugged trails that wind amongst the snow dusted pines. A Natura 2000 listed site, Lac de la Rosière is a peaceful oasis where nature remains completely untouched by human development. And yet, this tranquil spot is only minutes from the centre of Courchevel. A walk in the snow around the lake can take you up the surrounding slopes to catch a picture-perfect panoramic view of the glassy water down below– one that is totally Instagram worthy. It can be a challenge to tear oneself away from the pistes when visiting the 3 Valleys, but adventurous spirits and nature lovers owe it to themselves to take a detour from the slopes and explore the beautiful Lac de la Rosière on foot.
