The wise and gifted Hippocrates proclaimed over 2,000 years ago, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” Today, Château d’Estoublon is offering you the chance to do just that.
One of Oetker Collection’s nine Masterpiece Estates, Château d’Estoublon is located on the South slopes of the Alpilles Mountains in the Provence region of Southern France. The Estate has been synonymous with high quality extra virgin olive oil since 1731. With acres of olive groves growing five unique varietals (Béruguette, Bouteillan, Grossane, Picholine and Salonenque), the domain cultivates, presses, bottles and sells their artisanal olive oils on site and in fine food shops throughout France.
An Estoublon olive oil is, no doubt, a luxurious ingredient in food, but it is also a powerful tonic for your health. Cold pressed olive oil, like the ones produced at Château d’Estoublon, is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory polyphenols that are proven to lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease. Note: to maximise the health-giving benefits, do not use Estoublon oil for cooking, as intense heat destroys the antioxidants. It’s best consumed in salad dressings or drizzled over roasted vegetables.
Château d’Estoublon’s five mono-varietal olive oils each offer a distinct flavour, from the soft and round Salonenque to the pronounced and spicy Picholine. The signature glass bottles are reminiscent of ones you would find in a 19thcentury apothecary, suggesting that perhaps this culinary ingredient is a medicine, after all.
