Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten is the legendary head chef at Eden Rock–St Barths and Palácio Tangará. With a career spanning nearly four decades, Jean-Georges—as he is best known—has opened restaurants in cities all around the world including New York, Paris, London, Las Vegas, Tokyo, Shanghai.
Jean-Georges grew up outside of Strasbourg in Alsace, France and trained under Michelin 3-star chefs in France, Thailand, China and Singapore. His cooking marries the influences of French haute cuisine and Asian techniques and flavours, to create an inimitable style that has made him world-famous and earned him his own 3-star recognition from the Michelin Guide.
The renowned chef is not only a genius in the kitchen, but an extremely privy businessman. He is deeply involved in each of his restaurant projects from concept to completion, with a hand in every decision made from the dining room design to the staff. Jean-Georges has also published a number of cookbooks and even co-hosted an American television series called Kimchi Chronicles.
A reservation at Eden Rock–St Barths’ Sand Bar or Tangará Jean-Georges at Palácio Tangará is a must for food-lovers visiting St Barths or São Paulo. Just a year after opening, Tangará Jean-Georges—the chef’s first venture in South America—earned the prestigious honour of one Michelin star. Both restaurants incorporate the best of local ingredients to create a menu that is at once accessible to a global clientele and completely unique, à la Jean-Georges.
The Sand Bar at Eden Rock–St Barths has taken a temporary hiatus due to the rebuilding after Hurricane Irma, but will be serving Jean-George’s signature truffle pizza and crispy salmon once again when the hotel reopens in November 2019.
